Katherine Hartel Bio
After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art Degree (studio program) from Queen's University I raised my family and then worked for many years in the electronics manufacturing industry as a new products specialist. Having taken early retirement, I resumed my art practice, creating a wide range of work, as I love to experiment with materials and different approaches to form and subject matter. My work which is both representational and abstract, has been exhibited primarily in Toronto. I work in community arts; initiating and coordinating the creation of a healing mural project with a team of 8 women artists for StreetHaven, a womenís shelter in Toronto, and I also teach art to children and lead creativity workshops for adults and organizations.
