Mira Martinez Bio
Mira was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. Along with her formal education her interest in the arts started at an early age . Pottery, jewellery, classical piano music, painting, textiles and fine art furniture painting were the many artistic paths she tried with curiosity and enthusiasm .In 1975, with a degree in Fashion Designs, she moved to Toronto with her husband. Mira now dedicates her time to what she loves to do best:painting. She is continuing her artistic education in the develop of new techniques through the use of light, color in diverse mediums.
In each piece she creates, she brings her own aesthetic signature by combining varied techniques. The elements that comprise her art, landscape, figurative, cityscapes and photography , have a visual language to be read and interpreted differently by each viewer. The use of doors and windows in her cityscapes images intend to represent the passage of experiences and the freedom of choice in all human life.
After pursuing a long time dream always in mind , Mira founded Art Gala Forum in 2004 with a group of
Latin-American artists. Since then she has been an active board member of this Non -for -Profit art association.
She belongs to the Oakville Arts Council, Art Gallery of Ontario , Mississauga Arts Council, Visual Arts Mississauga, , Etobicoke Art Group ,Humber Valley Art Club and is gallery board member of Neilson Park Community Center.
Mira has participated in several Gallery art exhibitions in Ontario since 2000 and has being recognised for her work at several juried shows.
