Growing up in Guadalajara, Mexico, Sofia moved to Canada more than 25 years ago. Her love and admiration for the colorful Canadian seasons are seen on her art work through landscapes, still life and florals.
Sofia felt that art was in her blood at an early age. Her mother did portraits in pencil and her grandmother did still-life oil paintings. She loves to create and look at the effects of her creations, she does not go into details but explore with colors and shapes.
After studying oil painting at Toronto’s Ontario College of Art and Mississauga’s Springbank Art Centre, Sofia joined the White Oaks group and more recently the Art Gala Forum Group. She is extremely proud of her Mexican heritage and enjoys life in Canada and all that this country has to offer.

| Born in Ensenada, Mexico, Emma was drawing with aptitude from an early age, creating recognizable portraits of classmates by age 11. In her teens she began working with oil paints, taking classes in a studio. In keeping with this artistic inclination she chose to study Architecture at the Monterrey Institute of Technology, following this up with a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning at the U of T. While pursuing a career in Urban Design and raising four children Emma still found time to paint and draw as a hobby, hoping to one day be able to employ herself more assiduously to these pursuits. Two years ago she decided to return to painting seriously, beginning with taking classes again and becoming a member of an art group. Recent works express a new understanding of colour balance, and free flow of brushstrokes and lines.

| My
photography and painting are inspired by a variety of landscapes, in particular
my birth country, France and Mexico where I also lived for some time, as well
as my adopted country, Canada.
I
always travel with my camera looking for revealing images to photograph and
when I return to my studio I choose the pictures that best caught the mood or
the spirit of a particular place or moment and paint them on canvas with
acrylic paints.
Sometimes
people are present and I like to show them from the back so that we look with
them rather than at them.
I
want to invite the viewer to share moments such as when the light illuminate
Two Women Sitting in the Sun, when a child is absorbed in the spectacle of fish
swimming in an Aquarium, or when an alley of plane trees in the South of France
leads you to new discoveries.

| Nella was born in Mexico City. She has enjoyed living in Toronto, Canada for the last 23 years. From early childhood she took great interest in painting and dreamt about her artistic future. She studied Graphic Design at the Anahuac University in Mexico D.F. For the last six years she has been part of Mario Angel’s Art Studio, working on developing her own style and concentrating on color and texture. She is a member of Art Gala Forum. Her favorite media is oil on canvas.
Nella is an abstract and figural expressionist. Inspired by hieroglyphs in the sense that they represent natural forms, simplified and two-dimensional that suggest their meaning to the onlooker. Her growth in her spiritual path, her gratitude of what life has to offer, her culture, personal and family experiences play an integral part of her work, from her use of textures and color to the ideas and concepts behind her work. Her goal is grasping what lies at the very heart and transforming those emotions by infusing them with one’s own mind, heart and spirit.

| Maria
Esther was born in Santa Fe, Argentina. At an early age, she realized
how much she loved to draw and paint. Along with her self-taught
techniques, she acquired much skill and knowledge through a three-year
program in Bellas Artes (Buenos Aires), as well as other various
courses. In 1984, she received 1st Prize at the International Hispanic
Fiesta in Toronto. In March 2005, she received the “Honorable Mention
Award” for her work at The 2nd Annual National Juried Exhibition of
Visual Artists in Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery. Her paintings have
been displayed in various individual exhibits, such as The Mississauga
Central Library, Port Credit Library, “Café Tu Tango”, Art Artisans by
the Lake and Visual Arts in the Park. She enjoys capturing the realism
in all her artwork. Although her subject may vary from portrait to
landscape to architecture, her inspiration always derives from the same
challenge…to obtain in her paintings all those details that create
beauty before her eyes.
